Livewire Rock Academy – The School Of Rock for 6 and up
Livewire Rock Academy is a Herts and Essex-based rock school with outlets in Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Established 14 years ago by Uncle Funk front-man Simon Baker, the schools have taught thousands of youngsters and adults how to play electric guitar, bass and drums. It’s an exciting, fun and social way to learn to play a musical instrument and a massive hit with kids and adults alike!
The hour-long lessons always include a “rock jam” where students plug in, turn up and play three songs together. Every six months the school then put on concerts, usually at Southmill Arts Centre in Bishop’s Stortford where the students put their new skills into practice on stage in front of a live audience. The concerts also act as a fund-raiser for local Mencap organisation Grove Cottage. Recently the students have also played on the main stage at Stortford Music Festival and have been joined onstage by ex-Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton, who is the school’s patron.
Livewire offer free taster lessons for those wishing to try out the school. To book your place, call Simon on 07941 670575 or email simon@livewirerockacademy.co.uk
