I have to say Hatters Pumpkin Patch is fast becoming one of our favourite local farms to visit with the children and here’s why.
Hatters Farm is a family-run pumpkin patch producing thousands of pumpkin squash each year. Having farmed near the village of Takeley for almost 100 years, Ross and his family decided to open their farm to the public in 2020. They have over 50 different varieties to choose from and visitors are able to pick up a wheelbarrow and venture out into the fields to find their perfect pumpkin. I don’t know about you but I like the fact of being able to walk the fields instead of the pumpkins all being perfectly stacked. It makes you time outside with the children last that little bit longer and they do love to jump in the wheelbarrow too. Hatters farm also have a pumpkin cannon! The first one in the UK in fact. And what child or adult doesn’t love watching a pumpkin being launched and smashed into the air. There is also a massive Maize Maze which we intend to explore this October on one of their spooky Pumpkin Nights. Theres plenty of delicious food to choose from and you can now choose whether you would like to book the day or the spooky nights for those who are brave enough.
